Most of my work is done shooting interviews and for feature stories. Sometimes though I get a call to shoot a game for broadcast. It is a much different way to shoot when you are amongst 6-8 other cameras covering the game with a director in your ear. While it is different, it definitely is a nice break from my norm. I have the utmost respect for the guys that run these cameras day in day out because it is a very difficult skill to master and be good at. As I arrived to a foggy downtown Detroit I was able to capture these two shots of the Hank Greenberg statue and Ty Cobb statue with my phone. The fog gave the scene very soft light and the stadium lights were glowing, almost fighting the fog.
A very cool scene, which made me wish iI had the DSLR but my Samsung Galaxy S4 sure makes a valiant effort (with a little photo editing). This is a perfect example of always looking and you will stumble upon great shots even if you weren’t planning on it.
