Working as a Cinematographer mostly in the Sports world (Fox Sports, NFL Films etc..) I get to shoot a lot of major sporting events. This past Monday was no exception. Another year and another jammed packed Detroit Tigers Opening Day at Comerica Park. Opening Days are always a spectacle but 2014′s version in Detroit seemed a little more “packed”. The Tigers drew a record attendance for an Opening Day at Comerica Park and as I was walking around shooting flavor shots for Fox Sports Detroit I swear there were at least another 10 thousand fans outside at local bars and tailgating. Now I obviously don’t have exact numbers but the turnout in Detroit for that game was amazing and makes me believe that maybe the argument for Opening Day to be a National holiday has some weight.
I wore a couple hats on this day including shooting Pre Game sound for the Fox Sports Detroit broadcast and shooting flavor for Tigers Weekly which airs on Fox Sports Detroit. While I was out I was able to snap a few shots from some different spots where I was roaming around with my camera. This one below is the National Anthem from behind home plate.
It was another day at work for me but I am blessed to be able to do what I love and cover these major events. For a couple more shots from Opening Day click the Title of this blog and check out “Various Photography” under my Portfolio section.
